Rourkela: As many as 54 women self-help groups and three producer groups under Mission Shakti in Sundargarh district have stitched 1.5 lakh tricolours for the fifth edition of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ahead of Independence Day. The groups from all 17 blocks of the district, along with Birmitrapur, Rourkela city, Rourkela civil township and Rourkela industrial area, were entrusted with the task of preparing the national flags.The tailoring units of the SHGs and producer groups completed the target of 1.5 lakh flags, which have since been handed over to block development officers, municipal authorities and Rourkela Municipal Corporation for distribution under the campaign.Under the govt guidelines, the SHGs and producer groups will receive Rs 25 for each flag stitched. “Fifty-four WSHGs and three producer groups were assigned the task of preparing 1.5 lakh tricolours for the district. After completing the work, the flags were distributed among officials in all blocks, municipalities and the RMC for further distribution,” said Basant Mallick, district project coordinator, Mission Shakti, Sundargarh. Deputy CM Pravati Parida is scheduled to unfurl the national flag at Sundargarh district headquarters on Independence Day.
