Mysuru: About 1.2 lakh voters in Mysuru district will receive notices at their doorsteps, Mysuru district administration stated on Monday while announcing the draft voters’ list after special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.They will have one month’s time for correction by providing documents announced by the Election Commission.DC Lakshmikanth Reddy, who is the district election officer, told TOI these voters will receive notices from assistant electoral registration officers through booth-level officers (BLOs) concerned. The voters should substantiate their identities by providing documents.Of the total 1.2 lakh voters, about 1.12 lakh voters have discrepancies in their names, age and parental details, while about 15,000 voters have failed to provide their parental or grandparent voter records of 2002.Authorities had collected enumeration forms even though voters couldn’t find their parents’ or grandparents’ details.Odanadi Seva Samsthe, an NGO working for the welfare of women, had also flagged the issue, claiming about a dozen voters, who were destitute and were rescued by them, didn’t have details of their parents. Their address in their Aadhaar has been mentioned as Odanadi Seva Samsthe.BLOs explained that about 15,854 voters have been categorised under “No Mapping” as their parents’ and ancestors’ details are not known. Even the age gap between the voters and their parental age is less than 40 years, and such cases will be reviewed during the month. These cases have to be decided by the DC while the correction in names, age and parent information will be done at the AERO and electoral registration officers (ERO) level.As per the direction, EROs will have to visit the doorsteps of these 1.28 lakh voters to serve notice and rectify the data. Such voters will have one month’s time for objections while electoral registration officers have to dispose of any claims or objections within two months.Names of about 5.6 lakh have been dropped in the draft list because they have been categorised as ASDDO, and this has reduced the number from 27.9 lakh voters to 22.4 lakh voters.Accordingly, Mysuru now has about 11.4 lakh women voters , about 10.9 lakh male voters and 138 are third-gender voters.
