Ahmedabad: City police and the crime branch have registered three cases under the NDPS Act after recovering ganja, mephedrone and charas in raids carried out in different parts of the city over the past two days.In the biggest seizure, the crime branch arrested an individual named Satish Mehta in Ranip and recovered 17.812kg of ganja worth about Rs 3.8 lakh. Police said the drug was packed in plastic parcels and had allegedly been sourced from Rajasthan. Two alleged suppliers, Sitaram Gunter and Pravin Hadore, are wanted in the case.In another operation at Danilimda, crime branch cops arrested Asif Shaikh, 27, and seized 27g of mephedrone valued at Rs 3.8 lakh. Officers also recovered small plastic packets and cash. Police suspect the accused was part of a larger supply chain and are searching for a man named Yusuf Shaikh, who is absconding.In the third case, Sola police arrested Vishal Joshi, 33, near Veer Savarkar Heights in Vasantnagar, Gota, late on Wednesday night. Police seized 19.08 grams of charas worth Rs 34,770 along with a mobile phone. Police are trying to trace another suspect from Pune believed to be connected to the supply. Police said all three cases have been registered under provisions of the NDPS Act. The seized narcotics were allegedly meant for sale in Ahmedabad.
