Lucknow: A ₹4 lakh robbery in Lucknow’s Gosainganj area was cracked after police traced the suspects through a ₹29 digital payment made for tea and samosas at a shop near the crime scene.Police arrested four men allegedly involved in the robbery and recovered ₹1.5 lakh of the looted cash, two mobile phones and two motorcycles, including a vehicle allegedly purchased with the stolen money.According to DCP, south, Mohd Mushtaq, four motorcycle-borne men robbed Rahul Kumar, a Jan Seva Kendra operator from Mahura Khurd village, of ₹4 lakh on Aug 6. Rahul subsequently lodged an FIR at Gosainganj police station on Aug 8.During the investigation, police discovered that the suspects had stopped at a shop close to Rahul’s establishment after the robbery and purchased tea and samosas. One of them made a ₹29 payment through an online payment ID. Police obtained the transaction details from the shopkeeper and used surveillance and digital tracking to identify the suspects.The arrested men were identified as Arun Kumar and Shiva, both residents of Mohanlalganj; Chanchal Yadav, a resident of Sarai Joga in Sohra Mau, Unnao; and Shubham Rawat, a resident of Gosainganj.ADCP, south, Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar said during interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to committing the robbery to meet their personal needs and expenses.Police said the accused travelled to Varanasi after the robbery to visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple. They allegedly stayed at a luxury hotel and paid the room charges using part of the stolen money. Police teams had been deployed to trace the suspects following the robbery. DCP South announced a ₹15,000 reward for the police team that cracked the case.
