Chennai: Tasmac retail shop employees will get an annual festival advance of ₹20,000 and a ₹6,000 uniform allowance. Wearing prescribed uniforms will be mandatory from Nov 15. This is part of a series of welfare measures for personnel working at Tasmac outlets.The uniform allowance will be provided to shop supervisors, salesmen, and assistant salesmen. Each employee will receive ₹2,000 per set for three sets of uniforms a year, inclusive of cloth and stitching costs.Shop supervisors will wear light blue shirts with navy blue trousers, while salesmen and assistant salesmen will wear beige shirts with dark grey trousers. The Tasmac emblem will be affixed to the left chest of the shirt.The uniform allowance for 2026-27 is to be released by Sept 30. Employees have been instructed to procure the prescribed cloth only through Cooptex outlets at district headquarters or other designated locations.The measures, announced by excise minister K Vignesh in the Assembly on Aug 31, have now been followed by detailed instructions issued by Tasmac managing director K Nanthakumar.Under the festival advance scheme, every eligible retail shop employee can avail ₹20,000 for any one religious festival of their choice in a year, including Pongal, Deepavali, Christmas, Ramzan and Bakrid. Other festivals notified or permitted by the govnt will also be covered.. Employees who do not exercise the option will receive the advance along with their Dec remuneration for Pongal.The advance will be recovered in 10 monthly instalments. Tasmac has said the instalments cannot be postponed or waived.
