Mumbai: Zynova Shalby Multi-Specialty Hospital announced the launch of comprehensive Oncology Department aimed at providing structured, patient-centric cancer care under one roof amid the rising burden of cancer cases in India.

The new department will offer end-to-end oncology services including cancer screening, advanced imaging, biopsy services, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care, the hospital said in a statement.

According to the hospital, the initiative is designed to strengthen early detection, timely diagnosis and coordinated treatment, which are critical in improving survival outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients.

The department will be led by Senior Consultant Head and Neck Onco-Surgery Dr Deepak Khanna, along with a multidisciplinary team comprising Dr Jerusha Fernandes (Head and Neck Surgery), Dr Prashant Nyati (Gynaec Onco-Surgeon and Robotic Surgeon), Dr Prriya Eshpuniyani (Thoracic Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist), Dr Sandeep Bipte (Breast Cancer and Reconstruction Surgery), Dr Prasad Pande (Gastrointestinal Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery) and Medical Oncologist Dr Deep Vora.

Cancer remains one of the leading health concerns in the country, driven by factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, stress, environmental exposure and low screening rates. Common cancers including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck and prostate cancers are being increasingly diagnosed. Delayed detection often results in complications such as metastasis, organ damage and reduced survival rates, underscoring the need for early and coordinated care.

“Our Oncology Department is committed to providing timely and evidence-based cancer care, understanding that swift action after diagnosis can make a life-saving difference,” said Dr Deepak Khanna, Senior Consultant Head and Neck Onco-Surgery at Zynova Shalby Hospital, Mumbai.

He said the focus would be on seamless evaluation, accurate staging and carefully planned therapy without unnecessary delays, supported by advanced technology and a coordinated team approach.

“Beyond medical care, we provide nutritional guidance and emotional support to help patients cope with fear and uncertainty. Our team remains closely connected with families throughout the treatment journey,” he added.

Reny Varghese, Chief Operating Officer, Zynova Shalby Hospitals, Mumbai, said the launch reflects the hospital’s continued investment in strengthening specialised healthcare services.

“The Oncology Department has been designed to deliver evidence-based treatment supported by advanced infrastructure and experienced specialists. We aim to provide holistic support to patients and their families while ensuring quality, accessibility and trust,” he said.
