Srinagar Mar 05: PDP leader Zuhaib Yousuf Mir has urged National Conference president Farooq Abdullah to go beyond seeking clarification from the Government of India and also obtain a clear position from his son, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, regarding recent global developments concerning Iran and the killing of Ali Khamenei.

In a statement, Mir said that while Farooq Abdullah recently sought clarification from New Delhi over the evolving situation, it is equally important that the Chief Minister of the country’s only Muslim-majority region articulates a clear and principled stance on the issue.

According to Mir, the statements made so far by the Chief Minister have been limited to general remarks and have not conveyed a definitive position.

He said the current global situation remains volatile and the international order appears to be facing significant disruption.

Mir alleged that policies of leaders such as former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have contributed to rising tensions and uncertainty across regions.

He called on political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir to demonstrate moral clarity and responsibility during times of global crisis, adding that silence or ambiguous statements only deepen public concern.

“People expect their leaders to speak with conviction on issues that resonate deeply with them,” Mir said, adding that transparent and firm positions are essential to maintain public trust.

The PDP leader said leadership requires courage and clarity, particularly when international developments evoke strong emotions and concerns among the people.
