Mysuru: MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah Wednesday, directed zilla panchayat officials to take priority measures to tackle the drinking water crisis in villages likely to be affected this summer.While chairing a meeting at the ZP office, he said the ZP had already identified vulnerable villages and had instructed officials to visit them daily to assess the situation.He asked officials to remain prepared with water tankers to supply drinking water to affected villages and to keep a list of private borewells that could be hired for water supply.He also directed officials to complete works under the Multi-Village Drinking Water Scheme to ensure water for all.The MLC asked officials to inform senior officers if they were facing a financial crunch or a shortage of grants for implementing drinking water-related works.During the meeting, Siddaramaiah received public complaints seeking the distribution of title deeds, sanction of land for burial grounds, recruitment of medical officers and other staff for primary health centres, and other issues.Deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S Ukeshkumar and others were present at the meeting.
