YouTube Music users are being given more reasons to sign up for the premium version and it is not just about getting lyrics.

YouTube is adding one more AI tool and this once is also premium

YouTube and AI are getting a tightly knit unit and the latest update brings AI playlists for those using the YouTube Music app. The AI-fication of these apps are bringing some intriguing features but most are still locked to the premium tier and the latest YouTube addition is part of that list.

People are using AI to generate images, videos with music and even Shorts, so why should music be left out, and that’s why YouTube is offering this unique tool for its premium subscribers on Android and iOS devices.

YouTube Music AI Playlist: How It Works

YouTube Music offers a host of premium benefits and AI playlist is one of those exclusively locked for these subscribers. The update is rolling out gradually for Android and iOS users and most have started seeing the new version on their account.

  • Open YouTube Music
  • Tap on Library
  • Click on New icon button
  • Tap on Create AI playlist
  • You can feed the text prompt to AI to help it create a custom playlist

While putting AI playlist under the premium section holds some weight, the platform has no reason to ask people to pay for seeing lyrics of various tracks. YouTube seems to be copying one of its rivals and not in a positive way. The platform is looking to force more people to start paying for its services and for that it is happy to put a limit on the number of songs they can listen to with access to their lyrics.

Multiple users have shared their concern about this change and it seems we could see it officially roll out for all the free users in the next few weeks and months. Many on social media have talked about seeing the message pop-up after their free limit is over.

The pop-up message on YouTube Music says users only have a limited number of view lyrics options available and to access more they need to sign up for the YouTube Music premium version. Reading lyrics of a song is not very popular among users, but putting a limit on seeing them feels unwanted, especially when Spotify did the same and faced heavy backlash, eventually forced to roll it back.
