Kanpur: Police have apprehended a man after a video surfaced showing a teenage girl’s family members and local residents allegedly assaulting him, shaving half of his head, and parading him through Rawatpur over accusations of molestation during a driving lesson.The family, along with around 100 locals, reportedly went to the youth’s residence in Ratanpur after the 17-year-old girl informed them about the alleged incident.The girl’s father, a resident of Rawatpur, had asked his car driver to provide driving lessons to her. According to the family, the youth had been teaching her for about a week. They alleged that during a lesson on Monday, he molested her and attempted to persuade her into a relationship. The girl informed her family after returning home.Following this, family members and local residents allegedly assaulted the youth, shaved half of his head, and paraded him through the area. The incident was recorded, and the video later went viral on social media.After the video surfaced, police took the youth into custody, got him medically examined, and admitted him to a hospital. Police are investigating both his version of events and the allegations made by the girl and her family.DCP West SM Qasim Abidi said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
