Sanjay Sahay | TNNRanchi: An 18-year-old youth identified as Chetan Munda was arrested from Arki police station limits in Khunti district on Saturday for murdering an 18-year-old girl in Dasham Fall police station limits of Ranchi district on June 17 over suspicion of affair, police said on Sunday.The victim’s mobile phone was recovered from him. Superintendent of police (rural) Gaurav Goswami said, “Police on June 23 recovered the body of an unidentified girl from banks of Kanchi river in the Dasham fall area. A team formed to investigate the case identified the girl as Hissi Kumari, a resident of Barigadha village under Arki police station limits. Later, the team arrested the accused person based on technical and human inputs and scientific investigation.”Goswami said the investigation revealed that Chetan and Hissi were in a relationship. On June 12, Chetan allegedly saw her with another person and grew jealous. He called Hissi to the banks of Kanchi river on June 17, where they argued over the issue, police said.Chetan then allegedly strangulated Hissi with her dupatta, buried her body under the river sand and fled with her mobile phone. Further probe is on, police added.
