Varanasi: Reacting to Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said the country’s youth compelled the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to bow before their pressure and also started the countdown to its ouster from power.After visiting Karmi Tola in the main city area of Azamgarh to console the family of party MLA Alam Badi Azmi, who passed away on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness, Akhilesh said, “The BJP, despite being the country’s largest political force with countless associates, underground and unregistered people, has finally been forced to bend before the anger of students and youth.”Akhilesh described the development as a major victory for the youth.

However, he said political parties must learn a lesson from the crisis and ensure that future examinations are robust, transparent and free from paper leaks.“The issue is not limited to one minister or one examination, but reflects a larger breakdown of trust among job aspirants who spend years preparing for competitive examinations,” he said. Referring to repeated allegations of irregularities, cancellations and delays, he said these had damaged the confidence of families who invest their savings in education and coaching. He added that governments must create pathways to employment and government jobs instead of allowing uncertainty to dominate the lives of students.The SP chief argued that the examination system requires strict accountability at every level, from paper setting and printing to digital security, invigilation and result declaration. He said agencies involved in recruitment must be insulated from political pressure and monitored through independent mechanisms. Yadav also demanded speedy action against those responsible for paper leaks, including officials, contractors and middlemen, saying the punishment should be stringent enough to deter future wrongdoing.He said the youth protests had demonstrated the strength of democratic pressure and proved that no government could ignore students indefinitely. Yadav urged the authorities to compensate affected candidates, conduct pending examinations on time, and publish clear recruitment calendars. He added that employment, fairness and merit should remain central to public policy because the dreams of millions of young Indians depend on credible examinations and an honest recruitment process across the country, both today and in the future.
