Kanpur: Family members of a 20-year-old youth, who died after allegedly falling from a moving train near Aligarh, created an uproar in Fatehpur village of Kakwan on Saturday and initially refused to perform his last rites, alleging that three youths from the same village had lured him with a promise of a job and murdered him.The deceased, Saurabh Pal, son of Mahendra Pal, had allegedly been taken by his friends Atul, Sachin and Arjun on Tuesday on the pretext of getting him a job in Noida. The family alleged that something untoward happened to him while they were travelling and demanded that a murder case be registered against the three youths.According to Saurabh’s elder brother, Rishu Pal, Saurabh had been working at a factory in Kanpur but left the job and returned home around 20 days ago. Rishu said that on August 6, Saurabh called him and told him that his companions were forcibly taking him somewhere and had threatened to kill him when he resisted.A short while later, Saurabh allegedly called again and said he had been made to consume something and was feeling dizzy, after which the call was disconnected.The family said the three companions later informed them that Saurabh had jumped from the train. However, they alleged that Saurabh had spoken about a threat to his life before the incident and that differing statements given by the three youths raised their suspicions.Saurabh’s body reached the village after post-mortem on Friday evening, following which the family members broke down. On Saturday morning, they kept the body at home and refused to proceed with the last rites, demanding action against the three youths.Kakwan police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Rajput reached the village and pacified the family before the body was taken to Saraiya Ghat in Shivrajpur for the last rites.The station in-charge said Aligarh police had taken all three friends into custody and were questioning them. He added that the family had been assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the investigation.
