Varanasi: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday held a meeting with public representatives and officials to review development projects, law and order, and preparations for the month of Shrawan.On a two-day visit to Varanasi, Yogi directed officials to complete the integrated divisional office within 18 months, expedite work under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and immediately repair roads dug up for pipeline laying. He also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Shravan month, instructed that small boats operating on the Ganga be registered through the Nagar Nigam with mandatory safety measures, and called for the speedy execution of key infrastructure projects in Varanasi.Reviewing the progress of development works, he directed that the remaining structures in the Dalamandi road widening project be demolished soon after compensation is paid in accordance with the rules.On the ropeway project, divisional commissioner S Rajalingam informed the CM that the work is expected to be completed by Aug. DM Satyendra Kumar said that 536 projects have been completed since 2014, while 191 projects are currently under execution.The CM stressed the need for better coordination among departments carrying out underground cabling, drinking water supply, and sewer line works. He also reviewed the progress of Anand Kashi, Rudra Kashi, Kashi Sports City, and Unity Mall, and directed officials to ensure their timely completion.He instructed officials to intensify preparations for the mega tree plantation campaign, ensure merit-based disposal of complaints received through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) and the CM Helpline, and enhance police vigilance in border areas.Reviewing arrangements for the Shrawan month, Yogi directed officials to provide a separate route for the residents of Kashi visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Temple for darshan. He also instructed authorities to ensure adequate barricading, ambulance services, traffic management, cleanliness, drinking water, lost-and-found centres, health facilities, disaster management measures, and free locker facilities along the route from Maidagin to Godauliya.With the Ganga’s water level rising, the CM directed officials to maintain heightened vigilance by strengthening water police deployment, CCTV surveillance, and ensuring the mandatory use of life jackets for boat operations.
