Guwahati: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Congress party has fled from the Barpeta seat even before election.

The nomination of Congress candidate Mahananda Sarkar from Barpeta was cancelled due to procedural lapses during the filing process.

Addressing an election campaign rally in Barpeta while backing AGP candidate Dipak Kumar Das, Yogi said “Congress party had “fled the battlefield even before the election.”

Yogi said that both Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) threaten Assam’s cultural identity. “The Congress and AIUDF are working together to compromise the culture and heritage of the state”.

He said, “The Congress had been in power for 60 years in Assam but encouraged infiltration, violence and riots.”

Adityanath said that only BJP can address the infiltration and prevent demography change in Assam. “In last 10 years Assam witnessed massive transformation. We will not allow land and love Jihad.”
