HYDERABAD: Four people, including a student, were injured after a sound box system collapsed during the pre-release event of actor Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ at a private university in Hyderabad on Saturday night.The incident occurred at Malla Reddy University in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where a large number of fans had gathered to see Yash and members of the film’s team, news agency ANI reported.According to police, some attendees climbed onto a flying DJ speaker stand to get a better view of the event.The structure suddenly lost balance and collapsed, causing four people to fall and sustain injuries.All four injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.“One student suffered a leg fracture while three others had minor injuries,” a senior police official said.A case was registered against the management of the institution and the event manager in connection with the incident, police said.
Yash stops speech to check on fans
Yash was addressing the gathering when the structure collapsed. The actor briefly stopped his speech after noticing the incident and asked people at the venue to check on those who had fallen, news agency PTI reported.“Is it okay there? Please check…be careful. Are you safe?” Yash asked.He later noticed another group of attendees apparently climbing onto an elevated structure and urged them to get down before resuming his address.Videos of the incident were recorded by people at the venue and later circulated on social media.
‘Toxic’ release on August 26
‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, is billed as an action-thriller saga set in Goa between the 1940s and 1970s.Yash plays Raya, a gangster, in the film, which also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi.Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, ‘Toxic’ is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on August 26.(With agency inputs)
