Hyderabad: Woxsen University has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with XPO, a North American less-than-truckload freight transportation company, to expand industry exposure for students through internships, live projects, trainee programmes and recruitment-related engagement.
Under the agreement, students will have opportunities to participate in merit-based trainee programmes, work on industry projects, access internships and interact with XPO professionals in India. The company will also conduct pre-placement talks and employer interactions, and receive a preferred recruitment slot during the university’s placement season.
The partnership will also involve curriculum development. XPO will be able to provide inputs on curriculum relevance and emerging industry requirements, as well as develop industry-led modules under Woxsen’s Applied Learning and Industry Interface pathway, which includes 12 value-added credits.
The collaboration extends to faculty engagement and executive education. Woxsen faculty members will have opportunities to undertake four-to-six-week industry engagements or projects at XPO in India, gaining exposure to business practices and technologies that could inform classroom teaching.
The two organisations will also explore management development programmes, customised executive education and certification courses aligned with XPO’s learning and development requirements. XPO subject experts will participate in guest lectures and knowledge-sharing sessions.
“This strategic partnership with XPO exemplifies Woxsen’s commitment to industry-integrated education,” said Dr V. J. Byra Reddy, vice-chancellor of Woxsen University.
Sameer Shaikh, head of XPO India and senior director, Financial Shared Services and Technology, said the collaboration would help connect classroom learning with real-world business challenges through projects, industry engagement and mentorship.
The MoU is valid for an initial three-year period, with the option of extension by mutual consent.
