Varanasi: The World Population Day was celebrated on Saturday at Adolescent Centre, Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Sir Sundarlal Hospital, Banaras Hindu University, BHU in joint collaboration with Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child, New Delhi and National Health Mission, UP govt. Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr Sangeeta Rai, HoD of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and nodal officer of the Center of Excellence for Adolescent Health and Development, BHU, spoke about the positive and negative impacts of population growth on society and the world at large. She highlighted the importance of family planning and explained various types of contraceptives, along with guidance on age-appropriate choices. The programme was also addressed by Prof Anjali Rani and Dr Sakshi Agarwal of the department of obstetrics and Gynaecology, IMS-BHU.
