Patna: In a significant push to advance neurosurgical education in the region, IGIMS, Patna, along with Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, organised the ‘Cadaveric workshop 2026’ on Saturday. The academic initiative focused on hands-on training in complex skull base surgery approaches.The workshop, conceptualised by Dr Samrendra Kr Singh, HoD of neurosurgery at IGIMS, aimed to provide medical students, residents and young neurosurgeons with crucial practical exposure under expert guidance. Dr Debarshi Chatterjee, senior consultant at Apollo Kolkata, joined as the chief guest and lead faculty to conduct detailed cadaveric demonstrations, highlighting contemporary operative strategies.Inaugurated by IGIMS director Dr Bindey Kumar, alongside dean Dr Om Kumar and Dr Manish Mandal, the event also saw participation from prominent medical academicians, including Dr Vikash Chandra Jha from AIIMS-Patna and Dr Rohit Kumar from PMCH.“Such cadaveric training programmes are essential for bridging the gap between theoretical learning and operative practice,” said Dr Singh, emphasising that they enhance the confidence of future surgeons. Dr Bindey Kumar added that such collaborations are vital for promoting medical excellence.Organisers said the workshop is expected to serve as a platform for academic exchange and significantly enhance neurosurgical training standards across Bihar and eastern India.
