Pune: South Mahalunge MIDC police found a decomposed body and arrested a construction site worker for allegedly punching his colleague to death over the suspected stealing of his cell phone.The decomposed body of Chand Yakub Shaikh (42), was found at an under-construction site at Moi village near Khed on July 3, and arrested his colleague, Haralal Subhaschandra Gautam (28), for alleged murder.Inspector Anil Devade said, “On June 29, Gautam punched Shaikh to death and then left the spot. The victim sustained a couple of fatal blows, and once he lost consciousness, Gautam fled. The site manager found him on Friday after noticing a foul smell emanating from the site.”He informed the police, who discovered one of the workers was missing. “We then tracked down his colleague, Gautam. During interrogation, he confessed that he punched Shaikh to death, believing he stole his cell phone,” Devade added.
