Mandya: Women voters have outnumbered men in Mandya district, with the draft electoral roll prepared under Election Commission’s special summary revision (SSR) recording 7,16,962 female voters against 6,91,314 male voters. The draft list includes a total of 14,08,364 voters, including 88 transgender voters.Deputy commissioner Kumara said digitisation of enumeration forms covering 14,08,364 voters, or 89.4% of the district’s 15,75,849 voters, has been completed. As many as 1,67,485 names have been omitted from the draft roll following identification of deceased, absent, permanently shifted and duplicate voters, besides rejected forms. The district has also witnessed an increase in polling stations. From the earlier 1,823, the number has been increased by 66 to 1,889 polling stations, based on the voter population. These polling stations will serve elections ranging from gram panchayat and taluk panchayat to zilla panchayat, assembly and Lok Sabha polls.Meanwhile, the district administration has issued notices to 1,50,269 voters over discrepancies relating to names, towns, addresses and non-mapping of records. The highest number of notices has been issued in Maddur at 37,767, followed by Mandya (25,301), Malavalli (20,853), Nagamangala (23,544), Srirangapatna (16,335), Krishnarajapete (12,872) and Melukote (13,597).Voters receiving notices will have to submit any one of the 12 prescribed documents to establish their eligibility. These include Aadhaar, birth certificate, passport, educational certificate, permanent resident certificate, caste certificate, family register, land or house allotment certificate and identity documents issued by govt departments, banks, post offices, LIC or PSUs.Polling station officers will deliver notices, while arrangements have been made to upload supporting documents at the spot. Hearing facilities have been established at the gram panchayat level. Besides the existing eight assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), 105 additional officers have been appointed. The claims and objections period will remain open till Sept 23, with disposal scheduled by Oct 22. The final electoral roll will be published on Oct 27.For new enrolment, voters can submit Form 6, while Form 8 is meant for transfers and corrections and Form 7 for deletion requests. Voters can verify their names and details on the official websites of Election Commission and Mandya district administration.
