Patna: Following the directive of Bihar police headquarters to take action against 50 police officers and personnel involved in making reels in police uniforms, the SHO of women police station in Purnia district was suspended. The SHO, Shabana Azmi, a sub-inspector, was suspended by Purnia SP Sweety Sehrawat for violating departmental rules by posting reels and photos in uniform on social media. This is not the first time Shabana’s social media posts have raised questions. Earlier, while she was in charge of Phanishwar Nath Renu TOP, she faced controversy over photos shared online. Pictures showing relatives seated on her chair at the TOP surfaced on social media platforms. People questioned the posts, calling it a violation of the Police Manual Act. As the matter escalated, Shabana deleted the posts from both platforms.Sweety said negligence with the dignity of the uniform will not be tolerated. “With the growing influence of social media, the conduct of police personnel is now being closely monitored. All policemen have been warned to use social media with extreme caution and strictly within rules,” she said. The suspension comes days after Bihar police headquarters on April 20 issued a list of 50 personnel found making reels in uniform and directed SPs to act. Shabana’s name was on that list. Headquarters said posting reels in uniform violates the SOP and affects departmental dignity.Officials said the current case was linked to a clear violation of departmental rules, leading to strict action.Earlier on March 23, a sub-inspector, Diwakar Sarkar, posted at Barari police station in Katihar district, was suspended for making reels while on patrol duty in the diara area. He made the reel with his service weapon and posted it on social media, leading to his suspension. His name is also included in the list of 50 police personnel.
