Chandigarh: Two women delivery workers were allegedly assaulted and robbed by two motorcycle-borne miscreants in Sector 41 on Tuesday afternoon. The accused allegedly fled with a gold chain and Rs 10,000 cash after attacking the victims with a stick.Police said Lakhbir Kaur (36), a resident of Balongi, and her friend Manpreet Kaur of Palsora had gone to Sector 41 to deliver an online grocery order around 3pm. After completing the delivery, they were sitting in the market when an unidentified man allegedly attacked Manpreet with a stick, snatched her gold chain and repeatedly assaulted her when she resisted. The accused also allegedly twisted Lakhbir’s arm and snatched Rs 10,000 she was holding.A second accused was waiting nearby on a motorcycle, and both fled after the robbery. Passersby alerted police, who shifted the injured women to GMSH-16. Sector 39 police have registered a case, seized CCTV footage from the area and launched efforts to identify the accused.
