Berhampur: Names of more women voters in Ganjam district have been deleted than that of men in the draft electoral roll published on Sunday as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.Across its 13 assembly constituencies, 2,07,624 names had been deleted, the highest in the state. The deletions include 1,11,770 women, 95,835 men and 19 third-gender voters.Before SIR, Ganjam had over 29.99 lakh electors — 15.41 lakh men, 14.58 lakh women and 299 third-gender. In the draft roll published on Sunday, the electorate fell to 27.92 lakh, comprising 14.45 lakh men, 13.46 lakh women and 280 third-gender voters.The gender ratio has not improved after the draft roll, though Berhampur assembly constituency has retained its earlier pattern of having more women voters than men. Berhampur’s pre-SIR roll had 1.14 lakh men and 1.17 lakh women; the draft roll shows 1.08 lakh men and 1.12 lakh women.Polasara, which had the highest electorate at 2.47 lakh in the pre-SIR period, continues to have the highest number of voters in the draft roll at 2.33 lakh, despite 13,490 deletions.
