Hyderabad: A young man from Kodangal has appealed to BRS working president KT Rama Rao to help bring his mother back to India after she was allegedly trapped and confined by her employers in Muscat, Oman, for nearly a year.Tuppudu Lakshmi, a resident of Gokapasalwad village in Daultabad mandal of Kodangal constituency, lost her husband and had been struggling to support her family. Hoping to secure a better future for her only son, Raju, she travelled to Muscat a year ago to work as a domestic helper.According to the family, Lakshmi worked for six months but was allegedly denied her salary and subjected to harassment by her employers. She managed to inform her son on the phone about the abuse and non-payment of wages. When Raju urged her to return to India, the employers allegedly confiscated her phone and cut off all communication. The family claims that she has since been subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment and kept under confinement.Distressed by his mother’s plight, Raju approached local leaders and govt authorities for help, but he says no effective action was taken. Determined to bring his mother home safely, he raised the issue on X drawing KTR’s attention.After noticing the post, KTR invited Raju to meet him at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. During their meeting on Tuesday, Raju explained the difficulties his mother has been facing in Muscat.Responding immediately, KTR reportedly spoke with members of the Oman NRI Cell and instructed them to take all necessary steps to facilitate Lakshmi’s safe return to India. He assured Raju that every effort would be made to bring his mother back home and asked him not to lose hope.KTR is also said to have assured the young man that he would personally monitor the matter and ensure the required arrangements are made.
