Chennai: A woman and her 15-year-old son suffered severe burns after their relative poured boiling water on them during a property dispute at a village near RK Pet in Tiruttani.Murugan, a mason from Sellathur village, and his elder brother Devaraj, 40, a vegetable vendor, had been involved in a property dispute for some time. On Wednesday night, an argument broke out between the two families over the property. As the quarrel escalated, Devaraj’s wife Thangam brought boiling water drained from cooked rice and poured it on Murugan’s wife Seetha, and son Yuvaraj.Both suffered severe burns. Neighbours rushed them to a primary health centre for first aid. They were subsequently referred to Sholinghur Government Hospital before being shifted to Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.Based on complaints lodged by both families, RK Pet police registered cases and are investigating.
