Patna: A 22-year-old woman from Sheikhpura district, who was allegedly abducted in Nalanda and sold for Rs 50,000 for a forced marriage, was rescued by police on Thursday. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the case.Police said the woman went missing on Aug 4 near Ramchandrapur bus stand under Laheri police station while accompanying her mother to a psychiatrist.Laheri SHO Ranjit Kumar said the investigation revealed that Usha Devi (59) allegedly forced the woman into an autorickshaw and took her to Umanath Temple in Barh. There, she and two others allegedly arranged the woman’s forced marriage with Dilip Singh (50), a resident of Islampur, in exchange for Rs 50,000.Acting on the findings, police rescued the woman from Raghunathpur Sohjana village and arrested four accused involved in the case.All four accused were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, police said. Further investigation is underway.
