Ahmedabad: A 72-year-old woman who had stopped her van to feed stray dogs in Satellite was robbed of gold jewellery worth Rs 4.2 lakh after an unidentified biker snatched her chain and pendant on Sep 6.According to the complaint filed with Satellite police, Meeta Oza had gone out in her Maruti van to feed stray dogs.From 8.45am to 9am, she stopped near Gate No. 1 of Avni Bungalows in Ranujanagar and began calling the dogs to feed them.While she was inside the van, a man riding a white Activa approached her.The man, who had covered his face with a cloth and was wearing blue clothes, suddenly reached through the driver-side window and grabbed her gold chain.The snatcher fled with a nearly 2 tola gold chain worth around Rs 2.8 lakh and a 1 tola gold pendant worth around Rs 1.4 lakh. Oza tried to chase him in her van as he rode towards Premchandnagar Road, but he managed to escape.Oza told police that she was frightened after the incident and did not immediately approach the police. She filed the complaint on Sept 12. She did not have the purchase bills for the jewellery, according to the complaint.Satellite police registered a case against an unidentified person for robbery and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the biker and trace his route after the snatching.
