Mira Road: A suspected child pornography racket has come under the scanner after a 42-year-old woman allegedly photographed her two minor daughters in an objectionable manner and sent the images to her paramour. Based on a complaint by her 22-year-old son, Naya Nagar police registered a case against the woman and her 46-year-old lover and arrested both of them. Police are now probing whether the duo was part of a wider network.The woman, who is separated from her husband, lives in Mira Road with her three children, the 22-year-old son and daughters aged 13 and 10. She is allegedly in a relationship with the 46-year-old man, a resident of Naya Nagar.According to the complaint, in March, the woman allegedly photographed her daughters in an objectionable manner when the kids were asleep, and sent the images to her lover. When her son learnt about the incident and confronted his mother, the paramour allegedly threatened to implicate him in a false case and warned him against disclosing the matter.Meanwhile, the lover allegedly sent obscene photographs of some other minor girls. The woman’s son reportedly saw the photographs on his mother’s mobile phone, following which he approached Naya Nagar police and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the woman and the man under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.“Objectionable videos involving young children were allegedly found on the mobile phones of the accused. We are investigating whether they have any connection with a child pornography racket and are trying to ascertain the source and circulation of the material,” said police sub-inspector Sanvidhan Chaure.
