Mangaluru: A woman lost her life, while several others, including children were injured in an accident at Kadegoli junction, Bantwal taluk on Sunday. The deceased is Vishalakshi.According to a complaint filed with Bantwal traffic police, the complainant Vedavathi was travelling towards Kalladka along the Mangaluru–Bengaluru national highway to attend Shivaratri puja, along with her sister Vishalakshi, daughter Shrika R Kottari, son Danvith, and brother-in-law Hema Prakash, who was driving an autorickshaw.When they reached Kadegoli junction in Pudu village limits, Bantwal taluk, a scooter rider identified as Antony Mark Rodrigues allegedly rode his vehicle negligently, and collided head-on with the autorickshaw the complainant and others were travelling. Due to the impact, the autorickshaw lost control, hit another autorickshaw parked on the left of the highway, and overturned. Public gathered at the spot rescued the trapped passengers and arranged for their treatment. The complainant sustained contusion and abrasion injuries to her right neck and left leg. Her sister Vishalakshi suffered a severe head injury and was unable to speak. Hema Prakash sustained contusion injuries to both legs and an abrasion injury to his left hand and the children sustained minor abrasions.The injured were immediately shifted to a hospital, where Vedavathi and Hema Prakash were admitted as inpatients, while the children were treated as outpatients. Vishalakshi, who suffered severe head injuries, was examined and declared dead.A case was registered with Bantwal traffic police under sections 281, 125(a), and 106 of the BNS.
