Bhubaneswar: On the day when the fifth installment under the govt’s Subhadra scheme was disbursed, a 55-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and buried inside a septic tank following a dispute over the money she received in Dhenkanal district, police said on Saturday.The incident took place late on Friday night at Indipur village under Dhenkanal Sadar police station limits. The deceased was identified as Kousalya Pradhan. According to police, her husband, Girish Pradhan, who was drunk allegedly assaulted her with a wooden stick following a heated argument. Kousalya died on the spot, police sources said.The crime came to light after local residents grew suspicious and alerted police. Acting on information received from villagers, a police team rushed to the spot on Saturday and recovered the body from the septic tank. Police detained Girish and arrested him after preliminary investigation and statements received from the deceased wife’s family members. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, said officer-in charge, Dhenkanal Sadar police station, Priyabrata Das.
