Pune: A 29-year-old woman died after a scooter she was driving crashed into a road divider at Chandni Chowk on Wednesday night. The Bavdhan police said that the accident happened when the victim, Sharada Tupsangve of Karvenagar, was returning home.Police sub-inspector Sarang Thakare of the Bavdhan police said that the accident happened around 11.30pm at Chandni Chowk. The woman was heading towards Karvenagar from Bavdhan when she lost control and crashed into the road divider. “She sustained severe head injuries in the accident. She was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries,” Thakare said.A case of causing death by negligence and rash driving has been registered.Woman dies by suicideA 19-year-old married woman died after setting herself on fire and jumping from her building terrace in Susgaon on Thursday. She was taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to injuries. Bavdhan police said she was distressed due to alleged harassment by her husband and in-laws; both have been arrested. TNN
