Cleared /SalilChennai: A 28-year-old woman and her six-month-old daughter died after a container truck hit a motorcycle they were riding pillion on near Madhavaram Roundabout here on Saturday morning. The woman’s husband, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered injuries in the accident.The deceased have been identified as Sharmila and her daughter, Prithiksha. Sharmila’s husband, Nithyanantham, 36, a private company employee and a resident of Kumaran Chavadi near Poonamallee, was admitted to a govt hospital for treatment.According to police, the accident occurred when the family was going to their relatives’ house in Perambur. A container truck hit their motorcycle from behind, throwing all three onto the road. Sharmila and the infant came under the front wheels of the truck and died on the spot. Nithyanantham, who was injured, was rescued by passersby and sent to hospital.On information, personnel from the Madhavaram traffic investigation wing reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for postmortem.Police launched a search for the container truck driver, who fled the accident spot.
