Hyderabad: A 22-year-old woman approached the Kukatpally police, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by her husband and his associates on their wedding night.The incident reportedly took place in Begumpet last year and has only come to light now that the complainant has approached the police.Kukatpally police transferred the case to the Begumpet police, as the incident occurred within their jurisdiction.A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, including gang rape and administering intoxicants to commit an offence. However, police officials said that all aspects of the allegations are currently under investigation. The accused are currently absconding, and police are trying to trace and apprehend them.According to the police, the woman, who is a resident of Kukatpally, lives with her widowed mother and younger sister. A 28-year-old man from Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh had rented part of their house. He subsequently developed a relationship with the woman, marrying her on 28 July, 2025, at the Kukatpally sub-registrar’s office.On the same day, the couple moved into rented accommodation in Begumpet. That night, the accused allegedly invited five friends to the house under the pretext of a celebration. According to the complainant, the group consumed alcohol and made her drink, too. While she was unconscious, her husband and his friends sexually assaulted her.The complainant further stated that she was threatened with dire consequences if she revealed what had happened. The accused allegedly warned her that her mother and sister would be killed if she spoke out, forcing her to remain silent for several months.
