Rourkela: A 68-year-old woman was trampled to death by a tusker in a forest under Reamal forest range in Deogarh forest division in Deogarh district on Sunday. The woman, Pati Pradhan from Aaunli village, was residing with his family.On Sunday morning, Pati went to Aunli Khesra forest to collect kendu leaf and cashew when a wild tusker came in front of her and trampled her to death. Some villagers informed forest officials about the incident. The forest officials of Reamal forest range, including Reamal forest range officer Niranjan Dharua and officials from Kundeigola police station, reached the spot.Pati’s family members reached there after receiving the information. The body was sent to Chendipada community health centre in Angul district and was handed over to her family after post-mortem examination was completed.“As per provision, the legal heir of deceased woman will get compensation amount of Rs 10 lakh after completion of necessary formalities. We are now tracking the movement of that tusker who is in Aunli Khesra forest,” said Dharua.
