Chennai: A software professional died by suicide after recording and sending a video to her relatives and friends, accusing her husband of physically abusing her in Poonamallee, on Wednesday night.Shalini, 33, had been living with her husband Selvin, 36, also a techie, in an apartment at Poonamallee. Married about eight years ago, they have a five-year-old child.According to police, an argument had broken out between the duo after Shalini scolded and hit the child. Selvin had assaulted Shalini before leaving for a gym, officials said. When he returned home later, Selvin found the door locked from inside. When there was no response despite repeated knocks, he broke open the door and found Shalini hanging. He immediately alerted Poonamallee police, who recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.During investigation, police found that before taking the extreme step, Shalini had recorded a video alleging that her husband had been physically assaulting and harassing her. She shared the video with her relatives and friends.
