Chennai: A 21-year-old law student was killed after the XUV she was travelling in rammed a car that allegedly made a sudden, unindicated turn at the exit junction near Anna University out gate on Gandhi Mandapam Road during the early hours of Tuesday. Four others, including three students travelling in the XUV, were injured.The deceased, V Jinu, was a native of Palakkad, Kerala. Police said that around 3.05am, four fourth-year students of Dr Ambedkar Government Law College were heading from Anna Salai towards Taramani. Abrarul, 21, of Karur, was driving the XUV. Jinu, T Jegadeep, 22, and C Priya, 20, were travelling in the vehicle.As they were nearing the exit junction at Anna University out-gate, another car moving ahead of them in the same direction suddenly took a right turn without any indication. Abrarul lost control and rammed into the car from behind. In the impact, Jinu sustained head injuries and died on the spot. While Jegadeep sustained abrasions on his left elbow, Priya suffered a minor fracture in her shoulder. Abrarul was also injured. All three were admitted to the Saidapet GH. The driver of the other car, S Venkatesan of Cuddalore, sustained injuries and was also admitted. The Mylapore Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case and are investigating.
