Bengaluru: Four persons, including a mother-daughter duo, drowned in agricultural ponds in Tumakuru and Anekal since Sunday.In the first incident, M Suchitra (11) and her brother M Ravindra (9) drowned in the agricultural pond at Benakanahalli in Madhugiri, Tumakuru district, Sunday evening. The two were grazing sheep in a field and waded into the pond either to play or to drink water. They were children of agriculturist Manjunath, police said, and since school was closed for summer vacation, the children were helping parents in household chores.After the kids didn’t return home, their parents went in search of them and found their bodies in the pond. In the second incident, a 28-year-old homemaker died by suicide along with her 8-year-old daughter in Surya City, Anekal. The deceased are S Lavanya and her only child, S Lakshata. Lavanya’s family accused her husband Sampath of abetting the suicide. “Sampath is a farmer and also runs a hardware shop on Hosur Road. Married in 2017, the couple fought frequently over domestic issues,” a police officer said. Cops booked abetment-to-suicide case against Sampath.
