Chennai: A 55-year-old woman sustained injuries when another woman attempted to snatch her chain at knifepoint in Putlur near Tiruvallur on Monday.Shiyamala, a resident of Putlur, was alone at her house when Pavithra, 28, from the same locality, approached her, claiming that she was conducting a survey in the area. While they were speaking, Pavithra brandished a knife she had concealed and attempted to snatch the gold chain from around the older woman’s neck.During the struggle, Shiyamala suffered an injury to her neck. She managed to push Pavithra away, rush out and lock the house from the outside. She alerted the Sevvapet police, who arrived at the spot and arrested Pavithra. Shiyamala was admitted to the Tiruvallur GH. Investigation is underway. TNN
