Panchkula: A Kalka woman has alleged that prolonged harassment, abusive messages and threats by a man she met while working at a wedding function became so distressing for her family that her son attempted suicide.According to the complaint, the woman met the accused, Manpreet, while working at a wedding ceremony in Baddi. He allegedly took her phone number on the pretext of helping her find work, following which they remained in occasional contact over work-related matters.The woman alleged that Manpreet later began calling and messaging her frequently and allegedly started sending her money without being asked. She claimed that despite her objections and requests to return the money, he continued contacting her and allegedly pressured her to meet him.According to the complaint, the woman blocked his number, but the harassment continued through fake Instagram accounts. She alleged that the accused contacted and abused her relatives, family members and acquaintances on Instagram. When she threatened to approach the police, he allegedly became more threatening and continued making calls, using abusive language and issuing threats.The woman stated that the continuing harassment had severely affected her family. She alleged that her son, distressed by the situation, attempted suicide.A case has been registered.
