Patna: A woman and her two daughters were injured after a refrigerator compressor exploded, triggering a major fire at their home in Noorpur Chandmari under the Danapur subdivision on Wednesday night. The incident took place at the residence of former soldier Satendra Rai.The injured were identified as Sarita Devi (38), Rai’s wife, and their daughters Kriti Kumari (17) and Preeti Kumari (15). All three suffered burn injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private clinic on Khagaul Road.According to preliminary findings, the refrigerator compressor on the upper floor suddenly exploded, sparking the blaze. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the room and igniting a nearby gas cylinder, which worsened the situation.At the time of the incident, Rai was at a local market with his son, Ravinesh, while his wife and daughters were at home. They attempted to escape after the fire broke out but sustained burn injuries in the process.Local residents, alerted by the explosion, rushed to the spot, rescued the victims and took them to hospital. A fire department team reached shortly after.Assistant district fire officer Shashikant Sharma said the narrow approach road prevented larger fire engines from accessing the site, forcing deployment of two smaller fire tenders. With assistance from locals, firefighters brought the blaze under control after considerable effort.By then, most household items had been reduced to ashes. Police and the fire department have launched an investigation, and officials said a detailed technical examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
