Wipro Ltd reported a sharp increase in legal and professional expenses during the first quarter of FY27, with the expenditure rising 67.3% year-on-year to ₹316.1 crore, according to the company’s audited consolidated financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
The IT services major had incurred ₹188.9 crore under legal and professional charges in the corresponding quarter last year. On a sequential basis, the expense increased from ₹266.1 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2026. For the full financial year ended March 31, 2026, the company spent ₹1,019.9 crore on legal and professional charges.
The company also disclosed that employee benefits expense includes the impact of past service cost on gratuity and the remeasurement of leave encashment following the implementation of the new labour code. The impact amounted to ₹35.3 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, and ₹256.2 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026
The Board of Directors, at its meeting held on July 15 and July 16, 2026, approved the financial results of the company for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, in accordance with Regulation 33 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
