Ahmedabad: A 30-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover in Ganasar village of Sanand taluka, with the death initially being passed off as natural, police said. The victim, Sanjay Thakor, was found dead at his home in the Indira Awas area on the morning of April 10. An accidental death case was initially registered, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. However, the forensic report later confirmed that Sanjay died due to asphyxia caused by manual strangulation, ruling out natural causes and pointing to homicide. Following the report, police initiated a detailed investigation into the case. During inquiries with family members and villagers, suspicion fell on the deceased’s wife, Payal Thakor, and another man from the same village, Rahul Thakor. Both were found to be absconding from their homes, further deepening suspicion. Police teams were formed and, using a combination of human intelligence and technical surveillance, tracked down and detained the duo. During interrogation, both allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. According to investigators, on the night of April 10, between 10pm and midnight, Sanjay and Payal had a heated argument at their residence. After the altercation, Payal allegedly called Rahul to the house, and the two conspired to kill Sanjay. Police said Payal used a towel to strangle her husband and pressed his face with a pillow, while Rahul restrained the victim by holding his hands. After the murder, the accused reportedly placed the body on the bed to make it appear that Sanjay had died in his sleep, locked the house from outside and fled the scene. A murder case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and both accused have been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
