Clothes, 2 Phones Sent For Forensic ExamGuwahati: Police have sent the clothes allegedly worn by Ramanuj Goswami during his wife’s murder and two mobile phones for forensic examination.Police said Goswami allegedly killed and beheaded his wife, Riya Talukdar Goswami, with a machete at their flat in Basisthapur, Beltola, on Sept 3. The killing allegedly followed an argument over what police described as her extramarital affair.While being taken to the flat for further investigation on Thursday, Goswami addressed reporters with folded hands. “Whatever I did, it was bad. I request the people not to do anything like what I have done,” he said.His statement contrasted with remarks he made while being taken for a medical examination on Wednesday. “No regret, no apology. I am feeling good,” he had said.Police on Wednesday seized the refrigerator in which Goswami allegedly kept his wife’s severed head. Investigators also recreated the crime scene at the couple’s flat.The seized phones, clothes, refrigerator and other evidence are being examined to establish the sequence of events leading to the killing.Goswami surrendered on Sept 6 and was arrested the next day. He was remanded in seven days’ police custody in connection with the case.Goswami and Riya married in Guwahati on Sept 22 last year. Goswami, a cab driver, is from Gauripur in Dhubri district, while Riya was from Guwahati.Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the couple’s dispute and the events that led to the killing.
