Gurgaon: Even as intermittent showers continued across parts of the city on Tuesday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the active monsoon spell to persist across Haryana till Aug 6.According to IMD NorthCap University AWS (Gurgaon) recorded 78.5 mm till 5pm on Tuesday.With rain continuing through the afternoon, waterlogging was reported from the Hamilton Court Road-Galleria crossing, Palam Vihar and parts of Udyog Vihar, slowing traffic on several stretches as vehicles moved through submerged roads.Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the city settled at 29.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while the minimum was 24.5 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the maximum temperature stood at 31.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 25.8 degrees Celsius.Across Haryana, the highest rainfall during the past 24 hours was recorded at Partapnagar in Yamunanagar district (11 cm), followed by Ambala and Ismailabad in Kurukshetra (9 cm each). Rain was also reported from Faridabad, Rewari, Jhajjar, Hisar, Sirsa, Nuh and several other districts.The weather department attributed the active monsoon conditions to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan, the monsoon trough extending from Bikaner through Delhi, Lucknow and Patna towards Manipur and another upper-air cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.The weather department has warned of light to moderate rain likely at many places over the next two days.Gurgaon is among the districts under a heavy rain warning on Tuesday, along with Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Panchkula, Ambala and Kurukshetra.A heavier warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been issued for Yamunanagar, Karnal, Sonipat and Panipat.The forecast follows widespread rainfall across the district over the past 24 hours.According to the district administration’s tehsil-wise rainfall report, Sohna received the highest rainfall at 23 mm between 8 am on Aug 3 and 8 am on Aug 4, followed by Gurgaon and Pataudi with 15 mm each.Wazirabad recorded 7 mm, Kadipur and Harsaru 6 mm each, Manesar and Farrukhnagar 4 mm each, while Badshahpur received 2 mm.The showers continued in parts of the city on Tuesday afternoon, keeping daytime temperatures subdued.The previous day’s maximum temperature in the city was 31.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 26.8 degrees Celsius.IMD also recorded wind gusts of 41 kmph in the city during the past 24 hours.According to IMD’s seven-day forecast, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places across Haryana from Aug 4 to Aug 6 before rainfall activity tapers from Aug 7 onwards.Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places on Aug 5 and 6, while very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations on Tuesday.
