During the trial 33 tonnes of salt was loaded in just 15 minutes and unloaded in five minutes at a weighbridge near the Kandla Special Economic Zone (KASEZ).The 20-foot stainless steel container measures 8.5 feet in height and width and is designed for transporting salt and other corrosive commodities. It has two top openings that allow mechanised loading through machines.Railway officials said that a full 48-wagon rake can carry around 3,300 tonnes of salt, ensuring reduced contamination, eliminating the need for tarpaulin lining, requiring minimal cleaning, and improving overall environmental performance.
