“Data of the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants will be maintained by police and other authorities and have to be sent to the DGP-West Bengal and CMO every month on the number of illegal immigrants being sent back,” Adhikari said.
In a meeting with Railway officials, Adhikari asked the RPF to arrest such illegal immigrants and keep vigil at Howrah station and hand them over to the BSF.
Speaking to media persons after an administrative review meeting at the Howrah district magistrate’s office, Adhikari said instructions had already been issued to the police commissioner and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in this regard.
Adhikari also held an administrative meeting in Durgapur on Thursday. “We have seen political breakdown and many Panchayats are dissolving. However, people must get services and the Panchayat secretary will work. BDO is an executive officer and he will work. We are all connected to the central schemes now. People must get benefits through the central portal and new 15 lakh Ujala gas benefit and pre-monsoon preparation,” he said.
