In South Kolkata’s Jadavpur constituency (Ward 110, Booth 323), an EVM was reported non-functional. Similar issues emerged in Sonarpur Uttar (Bonhooghly 1) and Sonarpur Dakshin (Kalikapur 2, Booth 261), both in the Jadavpur organisational district, where machines stopped working. In Nadia district, an EVM malfunction was reported from Ranaghat Uttar Paschim (Ward 3, Booth 148), while in Krishnanagar’s Palashipara constituency (Dhananjaypur, Booth 236), polling was affected due to a non-working machine.

In Howrah, West Bengal, an EVM glitch reportedly sparked a clash in Bally, with CRPF personnel detaining two individuals following the incident.
Voting is being held across 142 constituencies in seven districts, including 11 seats in Kolkata, with around 3.21 crore voters deciding the fate of 1,448 candidates. The districts going to polls include North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Howrah, Hooghly and Purba Bardhaman. Bhabanipur remains a key battleground, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in the fray against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in a high-profile contest, with the seat long considered a Trinamool stronghold since 2011.

The first phase, held on April 23 across 152 seats, saw a turnout of 93.2 per cent.
