The tit-for-tat strikes, including a salvo of Iranian missiles fired on Saturday (June 6, 2026) at U.S. allies Bahrain and Kuwait, come despite Washington and Tehran being engaged in weeks of indirect talks on how to end the war. In a parallel conflict in Lebanon, two Lebanese army officers and a soldier were killed in an Israeli strike on a military vehicle in south Lebanon, the Lebanese army said. The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident. Iran has made a ceasefire in Lebanon between Israel and Iran-aligned Hezbollah a condition for any peace deal with Washington.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached Tehran on Saturday (June 6, 2026) to push for peace amidst rising tensions. It is Mr. Naqvi’s third visit to Iran in recent weeks, as Pakistan leads a diplomatic push to bring the two sides to the table.
