JAIPUR: The city police are searching for a suspect who failed to appear for questioning in a land fraud case registered last year in Mansarovar, with sources describing him as “high-profile” and politically well-connected.Police have identified the accused as Pramod Kumar Sharma, who, along with eight others, was named in an FIR, alleging land grabbing and cheating. The case centres on a valuable land parcel in the Badrawas area, where the complainant has alleged criminal conspiracy and cheating.Sources indicated that Sharma is believed to enjoy proximity to influential circles within the ruling establishment, a factor that has added sensitivity to the investigation.Investigators issued a notice to Sharma, summoning him to Mansarovar police station to record his statement. He was asked to appear Thursday but has since remained out of reach. Officials said they had simply issued a notice to Sharma to come and present his side of the matter, but he has failed to show up. On social media, Sharma’s photos with senior political figures have been circulating. This is not Sharma’s first brush with the law, said police sources. In 2020, he was arrested in Bharatpur for allegedly accepting a bribe from an SHO on behalf of a senior officer. However, in 2025, the Rajasthan High Court quashed the criminal proceedings against him in that case.Police maintained that teams were working to locate Sharma and ensure his presence in the ongoing investigation. “The case is under investigation, there is no pressure of any nature, we are working to locate him,” said an official.
